Internally threaded is top of the line body jewelry, but it is also more expensive. We recommend buying internally threaded jewelry. It's better for your piercing and is only made out of certified top quality materials. Like the other reviewer said "won't fit in the piercing :( If it had 2 less gems it would.". I LOVE the look of this barbell, the colors are so vivid and its beautiful, but it was just physically impossible to put in. I guess it depends on how your ear is shaped. =[
