Which is better?
Internally threaded is top of the line body jewelry, but it is also more expensive. We recommend buying internally threaded jewelry. It's better for your piercing and is only made out of certified top quality materials. Professional externally threaded jewelry comes lathed down on the end which helps to reduce tearing when jewelry is inserted.

Barbell is 1-1/4" long.

The lightning bolt is 11/16" long, and it is a separate piece. It can slide on the bar to improve comfort, or it can be removed from the bar altogether.

Unlike the reviewer below, I have quite small ears, so the barbell provided fit me nicely. However, I am certain you could remove the lightning bolt and attach it to another one for a better fit. Lovely piece of jewelry, is very shiny and the quality is great.

got it quickly. the bar itself is too small for my ear, barely actually fit. the lighting bolt is too big, would have been better looking if it was smaller. if you have a small ear, buy it!
