These taper at an angle from the bead. So the gauge listed is the thickest *wearable* part of the captive.

Kind of heavy, but overall very attractive and unique. Getting the ball to stay in is a super pain, but I'm still glad I got 'em.

The balls were difficult to take out even with ring-opening pliers. Also, once the gap was widened, the shape of the ring was not practical for the ring-closing pliers I had. I had seen recommendations for using rubber balls with these and I agree completely with that. They are steel so a bit on the heavy side, but they look cool.

Love the design, but as others have said, the ball is a bit of a b*tch to get out. Totally worth it though, looks great hung through bigger tunnels!

I love these designs. My only issue was getting the balls out of these. Practically impossible. I had to have a family member pry them out. And once out they were impossible to get back in. Had I read the reviews I might have thought twice but I decided to get them on pure looks. I'm purchasing rubber balls in hope this will salvage the purchase and not make it a waste. I say this with the best of BAF in mind, I've never had an issue with anything else I've ever bought.

Very nice looking captive. Very nice indeed. Too many people are used to the standard captive bead ring, and just a small amount of flair, really add to this design. Constant compliments will happen if you wear these.
