I had to trim this a bit to get it to fit and smooth out the edge, but the bead seems secure in my side labret. The back is a tad thick, but not overly so.

I have been wearing the flexiable plastic in my philtum, since I got it pierced, so for the last 5 years. I am completely in love with them, they are much more comfortable than metal labrets and you can cut them to the size you want, I always end up cutting mine as short as possible because I like a tight fit. There are some cons to it though and that is that the edges are pretty sharp and it may sometimes hurt to put it in, also they do have to be replaced, I usually have to replace mine every 6 months at the MOST, but I have a bad habit of chewing on them. Obviously neither of those has stopped me from buying these. :) It really is a great product.

The ball locks in place pretty securely, and looks nice when in.

I really liked this labret, but I hadn't realized I got a 14g until I tried to put it in and couldn't. :( It is really cute, and I wore it in my cartilage for a bit just to try it out. It was nice, but the plastic ended up irritating the piercing a little. It might not have been healed properly, however, so I would still recommend it, as it is nice and cheap.

Sadly the post is too big for a 3 year old piercing. The ball is the perfect size tho.
