Internally threaded is top of the line body jewelry, but it is also more expensive. We recommend buying internally threaded jewelry. It's better for your piercing and is only made out of certified top quality materials. Professional externally threaded jewelry comes lathed down on the end which helps to reduce tearing when jewelry is inserted.

Each piece has a 1/8" insertion gap
All sizes are about 2-3/4" tall

These are just simply beautiful and of very obvious high quality with a lot of added detail. My only complain about these was the angle at which they hung on my ears. Looking at my face directly from the front, you can't see the design and shell inlays of these, nor can you from the side. You have to look at them as if you were approaching me from behind on one of my sides, with my very long hair UP. I guess I could have figured this out before I made the purchase, but that just wasnt something I really ever thought about when ordering guages or hanging ear pieces. I don't regret my purchase however, and plan on wearing these with my hair in a funky updo next time.
