On 7/8" and larger the wearable area is 3/8", which is pretty small on larger sizes. Thick lobes will be a tight squeeze on the sizes over 1".
Flares are a full 2mm larger.

I have an eyelet in 1 inch and I loved it and thought a 1/2 would be fantastic, but my eye wouldn't take the double flare. So it makes me sad that I can't wear it
