In the sunlight, the purple is really good looking, but otherwise they're very dark and hard to even tell if purple or not. Price was a little high for what you get.

After my ears had been at a 6g for about three weeks I tried putting these in for some variety. The flares were at a 4g so my ear tore putting it in. From front on they look black, but from the side they are a translucent purple. I won't have to worry about it falling out, but otherwise I'm saving these for when I'm a 4.

these are the 6mm sort of 2g, with normal flares. One side is flat and the other domed. The light needs to get through them for them to look purple. Otherwise they're basically black. At 2g they look black in ear, the larger sizes might let more light through though.

Absolutely love these plugs! my only problem is the flair is pretty small so they fall out easily when sleeping etc.. Should have listened to my bf and ordered a size up. oh well.
