Made from 410 Stainless Steel (common for tools.) Closes rings to help in securing beads in captives.
Works best on rings up to 1/2" in diameter.
Hard plastic tips are useful if you are working with delicate pieces that you don't want to scratch. These cannot be autoclaved.

These closers work great for my segment lip rings. I'm sure they would for other types of jewelry too. I haven't had problems with he plastic tips falling off, and they don't scratch the metal which is important. I highly recommend these for anyone who changes out their piercings frequently.

To me these are good enough to do the job. I bought the plastic ones specifically so that they wouldn't scratch my jewelery and they haven't!

I got one of these awhile back, and liked it for the first couple of rings I 'closed'. Since then, one of the hard plastic tips keeps falling off which makes it nearly impossible to close the ring without leaving marks on it. Now it just irritates me.
