Made from 410 Stainless Steel (common for tools.) Opens rings to help in removing and inserting beads from captives.
Approximately 6" long. Works best on rings from 1/4" to 3/4" in diameter and up to 6 gauge in thickness.
Hard plastic tips are useful if you are working with delicate pieces that you don't want to scratch. These cannot be autoclaved.

I have to say I think I wouldn't have minded paying an extra couple bucks for the rubber tipped version, but so far I have no complaints with this one. I love Captive Ball Rings and without a set of openers they are such a hassle to deal with. This product takes all the painful twisting and slipping and crying out of the game - Get one now!

I was hoping that the plastic would be soft enough to not scratch the metal (it was) but hard enough to not bend/snap/break (it wasn't). The tips were also not really connected to the metal part inside the plastic so they slid off. I tried opening an 8g CBR and the plastic developed a crack. I ended up just pulling the plastic tips off and covering the metal part with gaffers tape. They still work like that and are good enough to use.

Nice but I think it's way too big for jewelry that most people would probably wear. Dainty cbrs like 5/16"-3/8" this will not work for :(

Decent product but hard to get into my jewelry in my septum (12g 1/2in). It's better suited to larger gauge rings with a larger diameter. I also had one of the tips slip off that I had to fix.
