Internally threaded is top of the line body jewelry, but it is also more expensive. We recommend buying internally threaded jewelry. Professional externally threaded jewelry comes lathed down on the end which helps to reduce tearing when jewelry is inserted.

I love them, but they do need a bit of maintenance to stay happy. Mine started warping almost as soon as I bought them - I soaked them in Jojoba oil for a couple days and they straightened right out, and no longer try to suck the moisture from my ears. If you don't oil them, be prepared for them to get stuck in your holes.

They're nice and simple, which is good for my front desk job. Turning them backwards makes them look like regular hoops. Definitely need o-rings though to keep mine in place.
